Gempire didn’t start in a fancy office or with a grand launch. It started in the parents’ room of a dance school. Fuelled by coffee, costume chaos and a deep, sparkly rage.
As a long-time dance mum, I was so sick of everything either being overpriced, a little too dull, or shipping from some mystery warehouse with a six-week ETA.
With a background in fashion design, manufacturing, and a stint at a high-end jeweller (don’t get me started on the importance of cut), I threw myself into creating the thing I wished existed: high-quality, affordable rhinestones that could handle the chaos of comp season.
Gempire officially launched online in 2020 (because why not start a business during a pandemic?), and has grown into one of Australia's biggest online rhinestone stores. Isabella’s still dancing, I’m still finding gems everywhere, and Gempire is run like every dance mum runs her house: fast, passionate, and still fuelled by coffee.
